Reality is addicted to intensity. The world is changing so fast that we need to redefine what we want to experience in our own space and time. We can design our story, defend our narratives, and design the limits for who we want to be and how we want to live. There are many layers to do this and lenses to observe and make sense of our lives.
Multi-Sensory
Holistic Interior Design involves a multi-sensory approach. We assimilate space through sight, sound, smell, touch and taste, and through each sense, we generate a lot of information in our brains. Any physical experience can be rich and profound.
Furthermore, Addressing all senses allows us to think and design for well-being. "From a biological perspective, the raison d’etre for many of our senses is to keep us healthy. We, as human beings, are designed to use our senses to help enable our health."
Multi-layered
We experience the physical world, and cues everywhere impact our daily routines. A holistic approach also requires thinking about the many layers we have. We must understand the different levels at which we operate; conscious and unconscious, physical and psychological, rational and emotional, in privacy, socially and publicly. (Publicly? Yes, with social media, we are all famous, I don't remember who said this, but it feels like that.)
Layered sources of Knowledge
I rely on all possible sources to understand human complexity while finding practical solutions in feng shui, wabi-sabi and zen principles. But I also integrate concepts from art and literature, technology and sustainability, cultural trends and future forecasts. There is a spectrum of possibilities, and I adhere to no formula or path to design a home. I want people to aim for authenticity and honesty. A home is a place of trust, where you are free to dialogue with your uniqueness and deep values.
